CES goes pink with Hello Kitty.

Las Vegas (NV) - Most booths at the Consumer Electronics Show are pretty bland, but Spectra International"s booth stood out with several walls of eye-searing pink Hello Kitty electronics. The cat face with its trademark missing mouth, a symbol of international cuteness, was plastered on everything from phones to USB sticks. Intel chipset shortage gives SiS an opportunity and VIA a challenge.
The recent shortage of Intel"s 845 and 865 chipsets is helping Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) enjoy demand that exceeds supply and the company is forecasting a strong second-half financial outlook. In contrast, VIA Technologies commented that rising shipments of entry-level chipsets are now limiting the company"s profit growth.

Sharp eying 10G LCD production.
Sharp will invest 500 billion yen (about $4.26 billion) to build a tenth-generation (10G) TFT LCD plant, with construction to begin in the third quarter of 2007 and volume production to begin in mid-2008, according to the Japanese-language Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
