Gigabyte showcases new server product lines.

Gigabyte Technology is showcasing its new server product lines based on both Intel and AMD solutions at Computex Taipei, including four boards targeted at the entry and mainstream markets, and six systems focused on high-density data centers and small- to mid-size businesses. On the Intel side, the GA-7VCSV is an entry-level server board based on Intel"s E5000V chipset.

Novell to continue using OpenDocument in upcoming distributions.
Novell has announced that it will continue to use the OpenDocument format (ODF) in future distributions of SUSE Linux. Short for OASIS Open Document Format, ODF is a standard XML file formation for office application programs. SUSE has used ODF since March 2005 and Novell says this will continue with the next version due sometime this year.

Intel: Desktop dual-core processor "Conroe" due in 2006.
Intel provided a few more code-names of future processors during a briefing with financial analysts in New York. President and soon-to-be CEO Paul Otellini promised the desktop processor "Conroe" for the end of 2006. Conroe will succeed "Presler", which will debut as Intel"s first 65 nm desktop dual-core in early 2006.
