India-based Moser Baer India (MBI), a leading global manufacturer of optical discs, last week announced halting capacity expansion for CD-R and DVD+R/-R discs, a move that will avoid a potential oversupply of DVD+R/-R discs, according to industry sources in Taiwan.
Yesterday, ULi Electronics officially launched its M1697 single-chip solution for the AMD K8 platform. The company started sampling this product in September, and the chip recently entered mass production, ULi associate vice president Bruce Tai said.
Taiwan-based industrial PC (IPC) maker Diamond Flower Electric Instrument (DFI) plans to add AMD embedded processors in its product lineup later in the year, according to sources at the company. Aside from Advantech and ICP Electronics, which already include AMD processors in their lineup, DFI also plans to use AMD processors in its IPC products starting from the third quarter of this year with a focus on the Micro ATX platform.
