SiS to start volume shipments of its PCIe-enabled Intel P4 chipsets this month.

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) will start volume shipments of its Intel P4 PCIe-enabled core-logic chipsets, the SiS649 and SiS656, in the second half of December, according to the company. The discrete SiS649 and SiS656 northbridge chips support x16 PCIe lanes, enabling front-side bus (FSB) speeds of up to 800 MHz. In the case of the SiS649, there is support for up to 2 GB of memory. The SiS656 supports up to 4 GB of memory.
