Supermicro Announces Motherboards With Intel G45 And G43 Chipsets.

Even though Intel has not formally announced its chipsets yet, we have seen several announcements already talking about new products based on G45 and G43, code-named Eaglelake. Supermicro was one of those companies jumping the gun a bit early, announcing new desktop platforms that promise "workstation performance for the desktop." The companyò€™s new ATX boards integrate one PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, support for high-definition 7.1 channel audio via an S/PDIF connector as well as six analog audio outputs, six SATA ports, twelve USB ports, a PCIe x16 slot (x4 electrical), a PCI-E x1 slot, legacy 32-bit PCI slots as well as a Gigabit LAN port.

NEC announces high-end 21.3" LCD.
NEC announced it will begin shipping a new high-end, amorphous silicon thin film transistor liquid crystal display in sample numbers next month. The new model targets usage scenarios such as digital photo editing, digital pre-press operation and various types computer design work. According to NEC, the new model supports Adobe"s RGB technology, which is considered to be the standard color space in the professional color processing fields.

Las Vegas (NV) - JVC today announced a high-definition version of its Everio hard drive camcorder series. The GZ-HD7 records video in 1080i (1920x1080 interlaced) onto a 60 GB hard drive. According to the company, that"s enough room for up to five hours of HD video at a data rate of 30 Mb/s. The new Everio is slightly larger than the current standard-definition models and integrates three CCDs and a Fujinon lens.

Canadian police post YouTube video to solve murder.
Hamilton police may have solved a murder by posting surveillance tape footage to YouTube. 22-year-old Ryan Miller was stabbed to death at a hip-hop concert on November 17th. Hoping to reach the teenager and early 20-year-old demographic, police posted up surveillance footage of security guards searching concert goers. The one-minute video apparently spooked the suspect so much that he turned himself in.
